Jikiden means "directly taught" in Japanese, which refers to the fact that it has not been influenced by the West and the methods and understanding that are passed on are the same as the original Shinshin Kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho. This translates as the "Usui Reiki Treatment Method for Improvement of Body and Mind" which is the true name of the original Reiki system.
Jikiden Reiki is different to "Western" style Reiki. Some of the ideas and understanding are different and there is a real difference in the "feel" of the Reiki energy. In Jikiden Reiki there is no fast track way to become an assistant teacher or teacher. There is not such a great emphasis on the use of the title "master".
